東久留米市は、東京都心から北西へ約24㎞に位置し、東は西東京市と埼玉県新座市、西は東村山市、南は西東京市と小平市、北は清瀬市と埼玉県新座市に接しています。面積は約12.92㎢で、旧石器時代からの遺跡が多く、江戸時代には食料供給地として栄えました。武蔵野鉄道の開通や東久留米駅の設立により、物資の流通が進み人口が増加し、昭和45年に東京都で22番目の市として「東久留米市」が誕生しました。

Higashikurume City is located approximately 24 kilometers northwest of central Tokyo. It borders Nishitokyo City and Niiza City in the east, Higashimurayama City in the west, Nishitokyo City and Kodaira City in the south, and Kiyose City and Niiza City in Saitama Prefecture in the north. With an area of about 12.92 square kilometers, the city has many archaeological sites dating back to the Paleolithic era and thrived as a food supply area during the Edo period. The opening of the Musashino Railway and the establishment of Higashikurume Station led to the advancement of goods distribution, resulting in population growth. In 1970, Higashikurume City was born as the 22nd city in Tokyo.
